Admissions

Guidance for families, guardians, and referral partners

If you are seeking shelter for a child or referring a case, start here before calling or emailing Basera.

Eligibility

Eligibility and admission guidance

Basera reviews every case carefully and needs clear identity, guardianship, and safety information before any intake decision is made.

  1. Children aged 4 to 14 years

Children should be within the age range Basera can currently support and have satisfactory mental health.

  2. Children with no reliable caretaker

This includes orphans and children who do not have anyone able to look after them safely.

  3. Children forced into unsafe work or severe hardship

Cases involving exploitation, unsafe living conditions, or extreme vulnerability can be reviewed.

  4. Unknown or displaced children

These cases may be reviewed on a provisional basis while detailed information is gathered.

Required documents

Bring a birth certificate, Form B, parent or guardian NIC, school leaving certificate if available, father's death certificate if applicable, an NOC from a responsible local authority or guarantor, and a clear explanation of the family situation.

What happens after first contact

Basera reviews the child's circumstances, available documents, and safeguarding details before confirming whether a visit or intake review can proceed.

Response timing and urgent cases

If the case is urgent, say so clearly when you call or email. Basera will guide you on the fastest available next step and any immediate information needed.

Safeguarding first

Basera may delay or decline admission until identity, guardianship, and child-safety details can be verified. This helps protect both the child and the wider home environment.
